The Asia Missions Association(AMA) consists of national missions associations in Asian countries. The AMA has hosted a triennial convention in different Asian countries since its All-Asia Mission Consultation in Seoul on the year 1973. Each convention ending with resolutions and action plans has contributed to the growth of missionary movement of Asian churches. The last 12th AMA convention was held in Manila, Philippines in 2016. The year 2019 marks the 46th Anniversary of the AMA and the 13th AMA Triennial Convention will be held in Chiang Mai, Thailand with the theme “Migration and Mission”.

• Delegates: 1~2 Delegates from each member associations and member mission organizations.
• Fraternal Delegates: Recognized Missiologists and Non-Western Missions Partners Outside of Asia
• National Church Delegates: 1~2 Delegates from each Asian country
• Distinguished Guests: Executives of European, Latin American and North American Missions Associations and Mission Agencies
• General Participants: Leaders of Missions Organizations; Church Missions Commissions and Field Missionaries from Asia

Asia Missions Association is the organization that brings together its member national missions associations in Asia, such as Korea Word Mission Association(KWMA), Philippine Missions Association(PMA), India Missions Association(IMA), Hon Kong Association of Christian Missions(HKACM), Bangladesh Missions Connection(BMC) and others.

One of the characteristics of today’s changing world is globalization and the frequent migration of people. A variety of causes including business opportunities, better education, overseas job employment, and wars lead people to relocate. We may refer to those who are relocated as diaspora, immigrants, migrants, refugees, relocated people, asylum seekers, overseas workers, foreign students, and others. They are both the most receptive targets of mission and also potential missionary forces to the host countries and to their own people in their home countries.

Immigrants and Mission

People leave their countries to settle in other countries for various reasons. Immigrants are people who come across geographical boundaries with the intention to settle down. The number of Immigrants is dramatically increasing in the process of globalization. They become our neighbors living in our communities and really need Jesus.  We should have a passion to share the Gospel with nations living next door.

Diaspora and Mission

Diasporas, like the Jewish diaspora in the Bible, are people who are moved to other countries voluntarily or involuntarily. Many of them, particularly committed Christians, are greatly used by God for the coming of the kingdom of God in the countries they live. They are key people for the evangelization of the world and transformation of their own people.

Refugees and Mission

Refugees are dislocated and stateless people. The exoduses of people are occurring particularly from warring countries, where many flee their homes, often risking their lives. They need immediate aid from the states and churches. We need to minister to people with the Gospel of the One who cares deeply for their need.

Overseas Workers and Mission

Overseas worker are people who live legally outside their countries for a limited and definite period on a work contract. They are in better conditions than refugees, but they too are minorities in other countries. They are more receptive than their fellow country people in their home land. Some go to other countries with missionary intent while others go without missionary intent, but both can be great missionary forces.

Foreign Students and Mission

Foreign students are foreign nationals who study at any school in other country on a student visa. They experience a great paradigm change as they learn new ideas. They are prospective leaders of their countries. Once they are evangelized, they will become great change agents.

Business and Mission

Governments restrict entrance of missionaries to their countries, but doors are open for business people to enter and do business in their countries. Business as mission (BAM) is a new paradigm of mission particularly in countries that restrict visas for traditional missionaries. They can make contributions to the economic development of the host nations and work for the Kingdom of God.

National Migrants(Relocated) and Mission

There are minority groups in almost every country. Though they are in the position of weakness, they could have great impact on the lives of the majority group in the countries they reside. Patriarchs such as Abraham, Isaac, and Joseph, and Jewish war captives such as the Hebrew girl in Naaman’s home, Daniel and his three friends in the Babylonian Empire were all part of the minority group but were great missionaries of God to the host countries.

ACTS 8:4
